About me… Hmmm… that’s a difficult one. Don’t you hate it in job interviews, or when you meet someone new or Someone new… wink wink :), when that person looks at you and says something along the lines of “So. Tell me a little bit about yourself.” At which point your palms get a bit clammy, your heart rate speeds up, and you try desperately to think of something, anything about you which is interesting and worth the time and energy you’ll spend saying it. Usually you end up blurting out your entire life history, starting with where you were born and moving on from there.
So – now I find I have to write a page about me. This could be a very short page… If anyone out there has any questions, feel free to ask them and I’ll answer them on this page as well. Not that I can imagine anyone being all too curious about me!
I was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. Yes that little country in Africa. No – we didn’t live on a farm – we lived in the suburbs of the main city. Which is Harare. (Pronounced “ha – rah – ree) We moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 1999 and have lived here ever since.
I studied Jewellery Design and Manufacture, and am working in the industry. Not a lot of outlet for creativity in my job, so I do other things, other projects to get that outlet. I play with glass and paint occasionally – not very well but that comes with practise, right?
I love baking and cooking – more baking then cooking – and really enjoy a challenge. For me baking is my stress relief – I have gotten home after a really hectic day and got stuck into baking something. I have been baking for as long as I can remember – one of my earliest memories is of sitting on the counter (because I was WAY too small to see over the counter) and mixing up batter or something. My mom used to give me a pretty free hand with it too – I just couldn’t put stuff into the oven by myself, and someone had to be in the kitchen with me. As far as I remember, anyway!
What else… I love reading! And I have a fairly wide range of reading interests – Science Fiction, Fantasy, Historical Fiction, the occasional romance, Murder Mysteries, even a few dramas here and there. Sci-Fi and Fantasy are my first loves, however.
I’m married, but no kids. Happily married I should add… 🙂
I can’t think of anything else even remotely interesting – so I’ll stop here before this descends into a long rambling posts on my musings on life – you can read the rest of my blog for that! (oh yah – I have a blog! Ha ha)
